About

When asked to give a overview of his upbringing, this is the best answer he could think of.

"I was born in 1962 to a a working class family. We lived on a council estate in Barnsley in the north of England. My childhoods most distinguishing feature was its un-remarkability.

Or so it seemed.

As a child, you accept whatever circumstances you are born into as "normal". Sometimes that can mean getting a thrashing or worse every time dad gets drunk, sometimes it's something else. Luckily for me it was something else."

When asked what he thought he was doing writing a book he said.

"I love to travel, preferably by boat. One of the driving forces behind my writing career is it's compatibility with travelling. The perfect existence for me would be to create a career that can sustain me living on my current boat Emma Rose, or possibly one a little bit bigger!"
